Where to go for help

How to Get Help

Resources vary from one community to another but a good starting point is to contact Inform Alberta and they can provide information about many resources in your community.

If you are an adult experiencing any type of abuse (emotional, mental, physical, financial, etc.) it is important to know you do have options and counselling is available as are legal and financial assistance, shelters and support groups. You can dial 211 to speak to an information and referral specialist and access the Inform Alberta database.

If you use abuse in your relationships it is important to know you can learn healthier ways of living with the people you love. Help is available. It is time to make a change.

Changing Ways

If you are a child or teen living in a home where the adults abuse one another please talk to a trusted adult such as a relative, teacher, school counsellor or coach so they can help you find the support you need. You deserve to be safe and you are not responsible for the behaviour of the adults in your life. What is Child Abuse?

You can also call the Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-387-5437(KIDS) at any time. 24 hours/ 7 days a week.

If you know a child who is exposed to any type of abuse- it is your business – and you can make a difference in the life of a child. Please call the Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-387- 5437 to report and suspected abuse.
